One great example of the subtle change in their relationship is that extra chapter where they celebrate Akihito birthday. Aki was looking for a suit for one of his job and then Asami offered to buy him one tailored one... he told him it's almost Children's day celebration anyways. Meaning, it's his gift for Akihito birthday (which happens to be the same day as Children's day). He got him a fancy suit, took him for dinner in an exclusively booked fancy restaurant while keep teasing him about Children's day. Akihito gets all shy knowing that Asami is actually doing all that for his birthday although he actually never mentioned it. Aki tells him that a simple game would have been enough for him. Asami takes him then to Macau on his private jet to have fun at a Casino, lol. At the very end, when they are both in bed in their hotel room, hugging each other, Asami takes a discreet look at a sleeping Akihito and whispers : Happy birthday Akihito. My whole point is that their love is undeniably present but it's shown exclusively through their actions and never through confessions or words. Ironically, that makes their story more believable. They are still consistent with their true nature and I love it so much more that way! I don't mind if I never see them confessing their love. How they treat each other now worths thousand times those I Love You words...
I definitely agree with you!! Their love really shines through all of those little moments, details and actions and I’m 100% here for it. I also think that it’s not necessary to say these words to see that they love each other and I guess momentarily this also would be kind of out of character, but yeah I wouldn’t mind it at the end of the manga or something like this. And not as a confirmation, no we all know that they love each other, it doesn’t need confirmation. The I love you would be more of a bonus I guess. There are some things I just want to see to see their reactions. And a confession is one of those things. Another would be asami blushing or getting flustered. It’s not a must but more for my own satisfaction ;)

I love how this convo turned out.. Sorry guys, but I just can't help joining in this thread since we all love asami and aki for sure. I've been a fan of these two since forever and I'm glad that there are still loads of people who love them as much as I do. From the anime, and now to manga and up to this chapter. The hate-to-love relationship was just inevitable given their two different worlds.. As Aki said, he's falling in deeper with asami, not just in the underworld but also head over heels of love for him. Aki's sense of justice is really too damn strong, but he's weakened when it comes to Asami.. I love how their characters evolved and how they slowly fall in love with each other.. Even if both of them don't admit it verbally, we can feel their love through and through.. I love those scenes where Aki shows his 'tsundere' personality to Asami, but once he's kissed by Asami, he just becomes too damn adorable that sometimes, even I can't resist.. ~pinch cheeks~ They both totally are from different worlds but they are absolutely united with love... ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
That was one of the best moments... at the end of the birthday extra when Akihito said he feels like he’s dreaming and Asami quietly says Happy Birthday Akihito. It was just so... blissful. <3
Also I love that sensei always includes a lot of panels of Asami just watching Akihito like when they were stranded on the island, there were many panels of Asami watching and indulging in Akihito’s bright smile.

well, i was about to drop it after first episode because it was just to much toxicity for me but since i read what you said i will give it a try once more and finish the first volume. The story apparently seems worth it and i really am looking for a long and nice manga(〜￣△￣)〜
Another shipper of this duo here! I can't get enough of them. And just like you said, a lot of us probably were expecting Akihito (the uke) to fall deeply and quickly in love with Asami since it's the usual cliche in Yaoi. But it actually was not as sudden as we thought. Aki resisted all the way and he is still resisting because of his integrity and sense of justice, stubbornness and honesty. He once told Asami (after surrendering to him): I will never be your ally. Aki is now head to toe into Asami. He might risk his life for him. But if it comes to justice somehow, he won't submit to him. I love that aspect so much. I also like that Asami softened very gradually and is not the typical sexual addict/sadistic nor the lovey dovey kind of Seme. He is just perfect and makes me melt at almost all his latest interactions with Akihito. Sensei did such a wonderful job with the relationship of these two and I hope she will keep going the same way.
True! I loved every single panel of that chapter. Asami admiring Aki was so lovely! I don't know if you remember, but he did the same in the chapter where they both celebrated a Japanese festival (I don't remember the name). Aki wanted to watch the fireworks and he told Asami to get home early so they could watch it together. Aki ended up being stuck at work and couldn't make it on time. He arrived home all sad only to find Asami dressed in traditional Japanese outfit waiting for him to celebrate together. Aki put in the outfit, all happy to watch the fireworks. He was smiling and drinking champagne... Asami deeply looked at him. Get him closer and kissed him *-*
In the chapter where they celebrated Akihito birthday.. they were doing it in the bathtub in front of the window, Akihito was contemplating the view and said: "it's so beautiful". At that same moment, Asami was actually looking at Akihito and replied: It's beautiful indeed"!! Soo cute *-*

aaaahhhh my thoughts exactly!! tsktsktsk..... like they said, great minds think alike ^_^ there are a lot of yaois out there, but this is definitely one of my faves.. I can't wait once Sensei releases a chapter where Asami blushes or gets flustered coz of Aki.. Coz we just usually see him calm and quiet, the actions-speak-louder-than words type of guy.. I mean, I can barely imagine how he looks like... the hottest seme of all time acting such a baby...(▰˘◡˘▰) I think he is way cuter than Aki when that happens ^_^

Okay i have to say something for this manga: I think this plot is obviously nothing normal and nothing we can relate to, since that’s not the average life and plot and we have to keep that in mind. I think asami and Akihito have come a long way. We all know that when it all started this was a mess, toxic and also non-consentful. But that was like the first few times (If this was a normal manga I’d obviously cut the camera with this manga but it’s not and that’s why this whole situations went down differently). They pretty quickly developed a mutual trust and started to really care for one another since they started living together and stuff and obviously their relationship turned consentful. And even though they still haven’t confessed to each other they basically said that they can’t live without each other like probably midway through the manga. So it has been a while since they established that and now the last 10 -15 chapters you really see it, and feel that they love each other. It’s incredible and I have to say that they definitely have a healthier relationship than probably most of the fluff/normal daily life mangas and that’s why I’m counting this manga to one of my favourites. I’m waiting for the day in which they literally (not just shown through actions like now) confess their love.
