PREACH SIS! I’ve read similar stories about ML having tragic back stories and some readers excuse their shitty evil actions because they’ve suffered as a kid. We can sympathize with their horrible treatment as kids but that doesn’t excuse what they’re doing in the present.
Yes I remember I read something like that about how the ML traded the FL for a castle and she got into slavery. She has scars and everything and she waits for him for years until he comes back. I have not read the story completely but I read from other reader that the FL just forgives him for all the years of her suffering due to his actions. And IM LIKE NO BITCH you got to let him suffer so I stopped reading that shit because she was so easily forgiving(╯°Д °)╯╧╧ I think its called on the king's lap or something but I do not recommend it if you like strong FL because she is DUMB ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
Omg I had to drop it! I was so outraged at the ML! He knowingly traded FL to some sociopathic rich woman who outright told him that it’s the trend for noble women to take young boys as slaves and torture them for fun. She outright told him to HIS FACE about her intentions to the FL and the ML was like “Ok, how about that castle?” And now he demands to be forgiven, he doesn’t beg, he demands the FL to be with him and I-I just couldn’t read it anymore and I stopped.

At one point the king said that he's "dependent" on that bitch. And after hearing that, I feel like he's a broken boy who's so dependent on bitch that he glazes over all her evil acts and fails to act as a proper king. Basically at this point it's a toxic relationship.
Again, I don't give two shits about his tragic past. No matter what, he still fails to act as a proper king and ends up killing innocent people in the past life(a tragic past is NOT an excuse). At this point, I really don't care about him. He can rot in hell for all I care. I'm here to watch my queen and that bitch's fight. Nothing else.
Later on if he realizes his mistakes and apologizes to the queen on his hands and knees. I might consider him a little (key word: CONSIDER. Depends on how well he can apologize and redeem himself).
Also I have mad respect for our female protagonist. But if she falls in love with him too quickly, or even FORGIVES him too quickly, my respect for her will lessen. Why? Cause I'm sick of watching FLs forgive the MLs right after listening to their backstory and forget all about their wrongdoings immediately. I want him to suffer because he is unable to get her love.
