Actually, the king and her got a bad end in the First life after the Queen execution because she was killing maids and the time and spending all the money of the Kingdom. No way she would have done that if Her ultimate goal and happy ending was to be the only wife of the ML. She wanted power.

More like blinded by codependency and the fact that she knew his secret and stayed with him nonetheless. The FL discover Her past and make ML realize that he is not a Monster and should not shoulder all the blame.
