I completely agree that it should not be brushed over. It’s okay to admit that things done in fictional stories are fucked up. There’s nothing wrong with that. I just hate how many women get on here and shame people who like these stories. I don’t get the rape kink, but as long as no one is actually being harmed I can’t say I care all that much. The majority of the yaoi fans are women and I doubt they’ll be influenced enough to go out and sodomize anyone. Someone being influenced my manga/anime, TV shows, movies, etc. is not that common. You don’t see it on the news a lot because it is not common. I just wish people would see that these authors are not trying to normalize rape or manipulative relationships. It’s giving readers and the authors a bad rep.
Yeah, I just added in the influence things as a mean to explain that people who already have mental problems (unknown or known) watching it would get a trigger that turn on their switch. I’m not overly obsessed with characters or stories to criticize a like or a dislike but I wanted to point out that there are lines where it’s too far.
Hey, I'm the translator. I felt compelled to reply because I just wanted to make it clear that I didn't justify rape IN ANY SETTING OR CONTEXT nor will I ever. I left a comment saying that I agreed with everyone that the relationship was extremely toxic and Oono deserves better. You might make the point that by translating I'm solidifying rape romantisiation but I don't agree at all! I think I'm just making the media already there available for English speakers and the majority of people reading seem to have an awareness of how fucked up this is. I am not the author and tbh I wouldn't have followed the trajectory this did if I wrote it. I did decide to translate it, however, because I thought the concept of masturbating using your imaginations was fresh and hot and I haven't read many manga like it. I really do apologise if you find this triggering and perhaps I should put a warning before the chapter because I agree that people can be influenced by what they read/hear/see. Thanks for leaving your comment and I hope you stay safe in these times.

Even if it’s fiction. You still can’t justify rape. Rape is rape, you acknowledge that’s it’s rape and fiction. You don’t say it’s okay just because it’s fiction. Yes it’s entertainment but even when watching a movie about a serial killer you acknowledge that what they are doing is bad. You don’t brush it over. Plus there are alot people that do get influenced by what they see on the internet. Someone who’s a psychopath can get triggered by watching a movie about a serial killer and do it. So be careful with how you’re justifying it: don’t be like the translator’s comment about how it’s justified because he felt pleasure from it so it’s not rape.
