I just don't get it are they together or nahhh cause in a previous chapter Jian yi confess...

none of the couples are really officially together; yes, the feelings are all mutual between them. both couples as you can see act very 'married'.. for instance jian yi confessing and zheng xi kissing his forehead, them being a bit more open with affection with each other afterward, xi drawing himself and jian yi under the 'love umbrella' etc; and for he tian and mo, lotsss of progress has been made with the past 3 years of focus on them, mo fully trusts he tian now, mo goes to he tian for help when he felt he was in danger with she li, he confided in he tian, he worries and cares for he tian immensely, mo dreams of he tian, he tian has been kissing mo's head and neck and mo really doesn't mind or move away anymore, he tian LITERALLY proposed to mo with the earrings and mo started wearing them ;) which seems to lowkey be his way of saying yes.

it may feel quite stagnant (especially between xi and jian yi) at times because thats because it's slow burn and the author really doesn't want to rush what happens to them during their middle school days. and ultimately comedy comes first in this story before anything else (serious plot and romantic progression is very much in the story and important too but idk if its first priority) because comedy is what really started it and is ultimately the heart of it. the author has confirmed both couples to be endgame couples and we know they get together officially in the future when they are older. simply put, I'm sure neither couple will be 'officially' together until they're older after the eventual time skip the author will do. in short, the answer to your question is the couples are not exactly normal friends(and they certainly act like married couples already in some ways) but nor have they made big steps to show they're officially together together quite yet so the phase they are both in now can be best described as 'it's complicated'.
