I agree, if he wants to date someone he should just end it with MD. Instead of hurting him even more.

Why should he change? It's not like he wanted MD to have feelings for him
I think going to ask him for permission is a bad idea because he shouldn't flaunt his relationship to the person that confessed to him, I'm not saying he shouldn't be considerate of MD's feeling but that doesn't mean he can't date anymore
Just because MD likes chanwoo doesn't mean chanwoo is obligated to like him back or date him
But the new dude is alarmingly perfect
