I think it's more like he can communicate with Connor rather than it being a delusion.
He was bit and probably developed an immunity. It also explains why he was able to speak with the mother. Still sad tho...
The fact that Linus has become delusional is so sad. He loves Connor so much that he refuses to see him as a rotten zombie. He sees Connor as normal person and talks to him like normal people. But it's all just his imagination. I'm so sad, I need more :"(
