Additionally, the one time she was treated as a human being in the Sperado house was for a few short months by Amroa (I think her name was?). It’s not the fact that she’s stupid; as the higher comments said... Ahiru

But Amroa was not a stranger. Amroa treated her as a human being when she was younger than the age that she was now. So of course she is going to trust her when the maid was the only person in the first 12 years of her life who was decent to her. That is not stupidity. That is naïveté. She was naive in believing that Amroa wouldn’t do something suspicious on the grounds of that Amroa was the only person who treated Leslie with kindness in the abusive household. Stupidity would be if Leslie completely trusted her if Amroa was harsh to her, but wrote a letter saying that she’s “changed” and apologized for what she’s done. Leslie would be making a stupid move right there. But that’s not what Amroa did.

The one time I thought Leslie made a stupid move in that situation was when she harshly told the guards to leave the building when Amroa officially started acting suspicious and the guards caught onto that. But again, since Amroa was the one person who treated her with kindness, Leslie gave her the benefit of the doubt. That moment crosses between being stupid and being naive. She should have known better; however, looking at Leslie’s current situation of being babied by the whole Salvatore family for a while at this point, she’s so comfortable now being out of her abusive life that she let her guard down. She now knows that she doesn’t have to be in 24/7 survival mode. That’s why her streets smarts didn’t work this time around. She didn’t have to rely on constant street smarts being with the Salvatores compared to relying constantly on those street smarts being with the Sperados to survive. That’s the difference. So no, Leslie wasn’t being stupid except for one moment in that whole situation; she was being naive, yes, which most children are naive. Just because Leslie has street smarts to an extent and lived in an abusive household does not mean that she is the exception to being naive. She’s less susceptible to being naive, but the reason why I say that she’s less susceptible is because she never let her guard down in the Sperado house; she could finally let her guard down in the Salvatore house, and that’s why she is no exception to naïveté. So I don’t believe that she is stupid. I believe she is a naive child.

And, Dem Feler, on the off-chance you say that I care too much about this; you’re right. But do you have any more points other than that Ad Hominem argument to back your argument up about how Leslie’s stupid?

When you put it that way, yes, I agree. I guess I was frustrayed with the stark contrast between her usual intelligence and her lack of carefulness when she chose to

    - keep her knights away, who meant no harm at all except her safety and whose actions the maid should not be offended by because the maid herself told her to bring protection (practically begged for it)

-keep the bracelet on when she wanted to take it off (ok i know she was being considerate)

    -let her last attendant go.

She did promise her family to be careful, but really, ugh

The one thing I didn't like though is how others couldn't just try to explain themselves like others did, and get angry because "she is just 12 how could you judge her you must be a victim-blamer wtf" and "this also applies to how you think in real life situations, sweetie."

Anyways, I was surprised with the amt of non-threatening and thought-filled replies this thread got. Thanks for your ideas, and I really appreciate the good critique this piece of comment got.

Ok Ahiru, I'm glad you took the time to try and detail your explanations, but by which statement do you think I used Ad Hominem?
