It’s most likely due to the Elise herself in the webtoon imo. In here, she starts off as an arrogant and rude bitch who kinda ruins her own country. She does get reincarnated on Earth, understands what she has done wrong and tries atone for her past wrongdoings when she reincarnated again. As she does this, we can see that the ML falls for this side of her, most likely why we feel more relatable to this. He falls for her empathetic and caring side which she didn’t really have in her past life.
it’s different from ‘The Abandoned Empress’ where you can see that the FL wasn’t a super shitty person at the beginning. She seemed like a genuinely good person whose actions were misunderstood (tbh it’s been a while since i read this webtoon so pls excuse if i make any mistakes). In that webtoon, I feel like when she reincarntes, the main thing she focuses on is to isolate herself from the prince and become stronger? we can’t really relate to her like elise because the FL seems more keen about running away from the ML than anything else.
and in um ‘I don’t want to be loved’, the ML is just a mess in general. don’t even compare him to ‘the abandoned empress’ or the prince here. at least in the abandoned empress, we can see that the prince there wasn’t a really bad person in the beginning, hence why there is some romance blossoming in the beginning. he isn’t aware of what he did to the FL in the future, is still quite young and yeah. In ‘I don’t want to be loved’, he knows that the FL is runing away from him and yet he still chases after her. He remembers all the times he has been crap to her but still wants her? tbh i’m only reading that novel because i wanna see him suffer :^))))
WELL THAT WAS LONG, lol i feel like i just went all over the place and didn’t make any sense
my memory is still a bit hazy with ‘The Abandonded Empress’ but yeah

Probably because in the past, Elise herself was a TERRIBLE person. She herself has acknowledged this, and that’s hinted to be a big reason behind why she became a doctor-to make up for her past sins. The way the prince treated her in the past was to a large extent because of her awful behaviour imo, but in this reincarnated life she has nicer traits which makes everyone admire her.
In abandoned empress Tia was never really a terrible person. In fact she was genuinely good hearted and wanted the best for everyone, if she had a flaw it was just that she was too....uptight, I guess? Her communication skills didn’t seem to be great which led to a TON of misunderstandings. The ML there was awful to her for seemingly no good reason from the get go even before outsiders shoved their legs in, so it understandably infuriated a lot of readers.

I re-read from the early chapter. Linden was never really an asshole. He was simply indifferent towards Elise, and disliked her for being a bad empress. He never had another woman too, despite being the emperor married to a woman he didnt love. There's no reason to dislike him at all.
When Elise first showed changes, he was open to the idea that she's changing for the better. Most other MLs would have thought that she had a hidden motive or something. And although he has reasonable excuse for his cold demeanour (trauma and venge for his mother and sister), he wasnt unnecessarily cold either.
Even before he fell for Elise, when Elise misunderstood and said he hated her, he didnt brush it off like a typical tsundere, and implied that he never said he hated her. And when Elise talked about the emperor's illness during their tea time, Linden paid attention and took her words seriously, although he wasn't interested in her yet.
He's already a good person before the romance started, that's why he's more likeable than most other MLs.

It's actually really simple: You know too much about Abandoned Empress. In Elise (I haven't read the other two), we know that the ML sentenced her to die in the past as a "fact" but we never see their relationship, his treatment, or everything that would make us hate him as protagonist. In Abandoned Empress, the author went out of their way to show the prince being a douchebag, to show Tia being mistreated and blamed, and everything bad that happened to her. The fact that we see all that, makes it imposible for readers to separate the past prince from the present prince, and so, everyone hates the ML in Abandoned Empress, even though in the present he hasn't done anything wrong and sincerely cares for Tia. Honestly, I don't know why the author did that. It doomed her love story for good, even though it had great potential. Now when readers go into it, their attitude towards the ML never exceeds that "Tolerable," regardless of how many good and nice things the poor guy does.

I think the prince from "The Abandoned Empress" is an asshole who shouldn't get the girl. Yes, I acknowledge by reading the raws/spoilers that he becomes a better person in the second timeline but only because the MC has been doing all the emotional and painful hard work. Beauty and The Beast Syndrome. I know it is an unpopular opinion but he (main cause), his father AND the god/oracle are still responsible for the sufferings and traumas of the MC. And the author makes the blue haired eyed ML more sympathetic by putting the MC more in danger so he can save her more than one time, revealing the absurd explaination he has been manipulated and drugged by a minister or duke all along and that he has been very jealous of the MC because she has a very loving family.
Funny thing is, he liked the MC's mother but still mistreated her for various petty reasons.
A very convolluted soap opera logic to make the ML looks so much better...
Elise's prince on the other hand is more rational and less bratty. He is cold, distant, reserve and ambitious for good reasons unlike prince Ruveliss.

Because unlike other innocent FLs in other manhwas Elise was genuinely a bad empress.. and Linden, unlike other asshole MLs, was really a good person..
Elise understood her mistakes, didn't try to push Linden away and stayed strong in all circumstances.. That is very much admirable.. while Linden never acted as a tsundere or scoffed at Elise.. Both of them are perfect for each other..
I remember another manhwa "Survive as the hero's wife " .. it's ML is also very sweet..

I agree with you completely. And the only reasons why the immature prince in Abandoned Empress becomes a better different person is because Tia decided to become a better version of herself and change her destiny. She did all the work while he is still complaining about his priveledged status.
It doesn't really help that the author gives us the cheesy explaination in the later chapters that he has been manipulated and drugged by a noble fraction that will dethrone and kill him.
Doesn't change the fact he started to mistreat since their first meeting (1st timeline) due to biased jealousy and envy. He isn't blameless at all. He let all this things happen.
His shitty father the emperor knew that his son is an incompetent douchebag that is why he wanted Tia becomes his son's fiance.
That is why I love "The Pet Of The Villainess". It is practically an alternative version of Abandoned Empress, just far more progressive.
The Villainess dumbs the incompetent prince due to the therapy talk with MC the Pet, becomes stronger and even starting to stand up against the shady King (Father of the prince).

Well in abandomed empress the fl really isn't that wicked. And the ml is really an a$$hole while in this it is the fl who is wicked. She herself admit it.. the reason why at first she refuse to be engage with him is because she doesn't want him to suffer the same way he did in her previous life (which she is the cause) and at the same time she wants to avoid being executed.. she herself knew that the problem was her for being a villain empress... the only thing the ml did is for not giving his attention and love to her that cause her to act like that. But it's not like we can force someone to love us and act how we wanted right?

My point is that Linden might have done things just as bad as the other prince, but since we don't know about them, we can be more accepting towards him. And as for the fact that Abandoned Empress's prince was petty and selfish at the beginning, to be honest I kind of liked that, because it gave him personality beyond just "the prince charming." If we hadn't had his past to contend with, that selfishness would've just been a bad trait he matures out of, and it would've given him more dimension and made him more interesting (like how Allen is actually a Yandere who chooses to stay away from Tia because he is afraid he will hurt her someday). But since his past self is always hovering like a shadow above him, every less than stellar thing he does is just added to the shitty pile.
Can anybody here tell me why the love relationship between the MC and ML are so convincing acceptable even though the ML ordered the execution of MC in her past life?
If I compare them with "The Abandoned Empress", "Lady To Queen" or "I Don’t Want to Be Loved" (NovelUpdate), Elise's story with the Prince somehow makes more sense while the other plots piss me very much off.
These mentioned webtoons/novels have one thing in common: The ML is an entitled arrogant shitty fuckboy prince who is secretly misunderstood, has some sad background story, fucks/impregnates a scheming bitch in his private life and kills the mistreated MC in her first life because he is a manchild despite appearing so perfect in public.
So why is it that Doctor Elise is more relatable and sympathetic to readers like me?
