Right, currently there are two nations, that are both empires. Kris seems to want to unify both nations, but the biggest difference between them seems to be their religions. Although Kris seems to be the heir of the empire that believes in the religion that supports classism, it seems like he might actually believe in the other religion. I think this is what's happening.
Kris's empire believes in classism, the blonde emperor's nation believes in equal rights and is hot.
