well actually in a country where education is restricted and forcing students high expectations can make people stereotype people who think a hobby that is "useless" and think they lack something
but I've never experienced or witness stereotype specifically to drawing and stuff related to anime.
Maybe people aren't use to it or something or it's something out of the ordinary?
