Well I kinda get what you mean - honestly, it feels a bit like reading another story all of the sudden, with new characters in it (I think it might be because the change in the story happened too fast, so the character development became kinda rushed). That's how I see it anyways - I hope the ending will bring it all together tho, and I still find the story quite good, so hopefully it won't be too bad

I had the same feeling as soon as the Chapter in which Ryan is shown with Ed checking the Food Truck Fair. The general mood has changed; the 3 main characters appear hopeless with no clear goals that explain their behavior; This could be a reflection of the characters; Scared , Restless, and cautious.

Yea I'm not satisfied. Everything suddenly feels fake bc mcqueen didnt go through any character development like ed. We went through quite a few chapters inside Ed's head which humanized him whereas with mcqueen we just get some repentant exposition. I'm not satisfied. McQueen should have suffered just as much if not more than ed to actually show maturity, true change and in essence level the playing field btw them so he and ed could be equal instead it's like 'hey ed I changed, here's some money ily.' And I'm over here like (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ what happened to all that amazing character development and realistic emotion???!!!!!?!?!?!?!? I'm sad this story went from like a 10 to a cliche 4. I'm still gonna read it but I'm not rly invested anymore

Not to be a downer or anything but this story is solely based on Ed. So of course they wouldn't really show too much of McQueen. But I believe he really did go through development, the author just didnt show it. They hinted at all the things the McQueen was going through when he adn Ed ended things. And remember time skips and all, so Mcqueen must have had a lot of shit to deal with during that time we saw the things happening with Ed and Chang. Also remember, before anyone says anything, they show more of Chang because he played a very big part in Eds life. So Im guessing the reason it feels weird atm is cause everything is kinda mellowed out now. At the beginning Ed was just getting right into things because he needed a job and shit and he ended being a small time porn star. But then everything spiraled and we got to pretty every point the author wanted to make. But like im just saying. Im kinda ok with how the story is.
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ But do I know?

I agree with both but I think what I’m missing is the perspective of McQueen. Because of their relationship having a big fallout regarding the situation, I truly think that we needed to see Mcqueen and why he went through. All of what hurt Ed was due to McQueen and I feel like he’s become such a important character, almost as important as Ed, that we needed that perspective because something just feels off. This last chapter and their conversation just seemed like it should have been a couple chapters ago in a way. Idk it just feels weird. Then that little moment with Ryan? Like I feel like the important chapters after the fight seemed to confuse things a little. Idk lol?

Like it definitely is still a good story but with all the chapters we’ve read that represented a good balance of character development and plot seemed to tip over. Now I understand it’s possible for all of that would be messed up after the situation with McQueen but yeah something just doesn’t feel right. The excitement to read this chapter and even the few before has really died out. Like I was actually surprised that I just wasn’t feeling it at the end of the chapter. Hopefully, it turns out well.
Okay, so this might be just me but I feel like there’s something different with the story after these last few chapters. Like I understand there’s be totally changes due to the situation with Chang, Ed and McQueen’s relationship and fighting, but something else feels different. Like even the feel of the characters. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s like I’m losing the connection to the story and it’s character. I don’t know.
Is anyone experiencing the same thing?
