There’s only 2 outcomes if he knew. One, he will execute her. Maybe because she is an escapee and there’s nothing good about that. Plus, she IS from another country and it’s just strange to see her. Maybe a spy?? And if the original nation did get her, she would have been used as a puppet queen. Two, she will be forced to marry him under political schemes to tie the 2 nations together. So either way, if she ever got caught by the basically the only one that has enough power to harm her entire life (future included, not just death wise; think about it, the crown prince wants her, who is willing to hide her) she will be used and will no longer have any free will whatsoever. So her hiding is a means to protect her freedom.
