I've read enough comments about men in manga to know that a certain segment of the audience will excuse and/or ignore anything negative, cruel, nasty and sexually repulsive or abusive that they do women so long as they are physically attractive. It really does boggle my mind.

i'm actually confused about why people think he is a jerk. i've read quite a number of different stories - mangas/huas/hwas, novels and seen different dramas. to me he hasn't done anything to make him out as a jerk. that has been my impression so far. I think it is easily to misinterpret his actions and attitude because we know the FL is avoiding him and hiding her identity from him. it kind of paints the tone of the story to make him out as someone that isn't good.
the male lead seems to be the sadistic, stalker, asshole, conceited, "I know you're in love with me" jerkoff type.
