I'm orignally from the west of africa and not east, but yeah, in most african countries its illegal. It used to be public lynching and now it's a ton of years in jail (I think this mostly applies to men), when they do get killed they barely get justice. Its awful, we have a long way to go and rafiki was a huge step tbh.
I was aware about men getting hunted and killed is it the same for women as well?

Fun fact: the lesbian romance movie is a real Kenyan movie that actually got banned in the country for its LGBT themes, it's called Rafiki and it's really good
