Scat is not the darkest genre i agree & it isn't traumatizing (at least not for me cos I like gory etc. so nothing can really traumatize me anymore except maybe Kayako & Laura...), BUT scat IS a disgusting genre.
Some ppl may like the darkest genre ever exist (idk what is cos i don't put ranking on em) and just not into scat, that doesn't mean they're "innocent widdle bibis" (your words not mine)...that just mean they're not into it. And liking/enduring scat isn't the sign that your mental ability is mature, it's just a sign that you're kinky~

On the topic of dark genres, i'm surprised u can be traumatized by Kayako and Laura. Gore is like on a different level from those two. Especially IRL gore. I've seen twitter posts of people cutting the testicles of a guy, recording it, cooking it, and eating it. They even have a community centered around such acts. That's what I would def call traumatizing (⊙…⊙ )

About dark genres, eh it's probably cause you, like most ppl, already have a idea that gore belongs to the oddly extreme and/or scary and/or just not into it--Big NO NO list for short. That's why you call irl gore (that specific twitter post) is traumatizing while I'm perfectly okay with the act (not saying i condone doing irl gore, unless they're not harming anyone & there's consent i guess like how bdsm operates irl).
