I read somewhere that mika said "daisuki dayo" which means "i love you" and that its normally used for confession in lots of anime and manga series. And that Ashiteru not commonly used for confession since it is more reserved for those who are already in long term relationship while Daisuki or Suki for confession. So i think that his confession was meant romanticly. But im not sure so im waiting for people to answer me and see their opinion. I hope it's romanticly because their are so cute and honestly i just can see that mika has romantic feelings for yu but idk

All of you might recall that there was that time when Mika was feeding from Yuu while everyone was in transportation to the city (when they were with Ferid and Crowley, but I think *after* everyone saved Ferid from burning on the stake), there's a moment when Yuu thinks to himself that he kind of likes it when Mika feeds from him~

As a very Japanese show, I believe they used Daisuke dayo so it can be left up to interpretation. One werid thing about the raws is that Daisuke dayo was written as “だいすきだよ” not 大好きだよ“ it was written in pure katakana instead of using some kanji. Idk if a small detail and I don’t know if it means anything.

hmm i don't know but im just gonna say that i think it was meant romanticly bc mika "gave up his life" for yu and at the end he confessed i mean he could have said "we are family" like he always does but this time he knew that he is gonna "die" he said "i love you" . The thing is if it were shinoa (no hate i like her character) people wouldn't even argue if its romantic or not bc its "straight" but when its a boy that says "i love you" to another boy everybody is like it "they are family" "dont make them gay" some people sure are disgusting.
Thanks for the help thooo (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

I agree, no one would question it, the thing is Japan is still very heteronormative so we have to think that way. I really do hope everyone is right, Mika and Yuu’s relationship is a lot more natural then the feelings Shinoa has for Yuu, they seem a lot more forced. Let’s hope that the author choses the right choice.
OKAY I NEED TO ASK A QUESTION THATS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME.
for the japanese specialists i need to know if mikas confession was romantic or more like a family "i love you". Bc there are a lot of ways to say i love you in japanese IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. I almost got an heart attack when i read that.
ANYWAYS
