From what i remembered, *might be a spoiler for anyone who has not read* she is a chimera made from dark magic. What she does is kinda like sucking off Claude's life? By being near Claude, the black magic kills claude slowly. But Claude gets headache all the time and being with jeanette soothes his headache. So making it that they stay together most of the time which makes claude die faster. it's kinda like how the mechanism of the magic is made?? Im not quite sure tho. Someone correct me if im wrong, my memory is not so fresh with this webtoon. I've been reading a lot of isekai so..

Yeah. They're making use of jeanette to kill claude so that dark daddy claude can take over the throne.
So the stuff that abbyciel said and I think that maybe we get this super possitive, fairy tail idea of the story and all the bad stuff is just the reality that the MC forgot.
Tbh, I personally have this headcanon (My personal idea/fan theory that's proably 100% wrong) where she read the story in her second life because of something to do with the magic and stuff that happened which is what basically kinda magiced the story into existence. For some reason proably related to the magic she only remembers certain parts of it and the whole view of the story is shifted to fit in with her memories and to make it into a happy one, the point of view is set to the sister where she aka the fake "mc" (her "sister") gets the happy ending. From my understanding it seems that anthy liked and idolised her sister in a way so her wanting the best for her sister would make sense.
Tbh, now that I think about there is a lot of backstory into anthy that's mentioned in the manga. Like more than you would expect to be given to a supporting character.
Also now that I think about it the idea was that the sisters aunt would try to make it look like out MC tried to posion anthy but she died for some unknown reason that was never explained and thus it's impossible for her to do that... the more I think about it the more I start to think that the MC and magic stuff was the reason for the story existing in her 2nd life time. It would make sense for the MC's memories to be distorted/ streched to make the story line make more sense. Thus the missing details (e.g. who made it look like the MC attempted to kill the fake MC) were added.
With the whole thing about this being anythys third life and stuff I think that this might make actual sense cuz why else would there be a story about her 1st life in her second life?
I have different theories though.
1. Athanasia magic nature was to turn back times, Her first life was the past Athanasia who got hanged, her second life was the Korean girl who died because of sleeping pills, the third life was the present Athanasia who remember her second life but by using her mana she can actually see her first life.
2. Claude use Black Magic to erase the memory of Diana, but unlike in the past when he met Athanasia at the age of 9 when the magic already completed, this time he met Athanasia at the age of 5, through several encounter the magic was broken. After reading his side story, every time he see Athanasia he suffered from severe headache and the urge to kill her, the curse of the black magic, I think that the reason why he hate past Athanasia, but in the present time after seeing Athanasia near death experience several times, the magic broken pieces by pieces, thus he regained the memory of Diana. But after he lost memories because the side effect of Athy mana, Claude goes back to the time before he met Athy, and the black magic restored. And Jeanette magic nature was to make people love her, and that's why it could ease Claude pain but can not broken the curse of black magic, it only works like painkiller. I don't think Jennete have anything to do with Claude death, Claude brought this upon himself.
ohhh ! The second point is actually interesting. Im not really sure with mine about the cause of the black magic. I have not reread the webtoon so my memory is not good. But im not quite sure that i agree with Jeanette's magic making people love her.
The 1st Athy and the third Athy are the same. Basically Athy got unfortunately killed by her father in her first life. Athy then reincarnated into her second life as the korean girl. Athy's magic boxed her past life memories as one like a "novel". Third life, athy time traveled back to her first life but she doesn't remember that it's actually HER first life because 2nd life Athy remembers it as a "novel". (Lucas mentioned this about her past lives in his mind) However, throughout the webtoon, u will see that Athy questions what happened after the novel end. And as shyshyshy mentioned, athy's magic might have to do with time because she can see parts of what happened after she died in her first life. (Or maybe her magic is just too powerful)
But Lucas often purify Athy after she met with Jennete, like something stuck to her and he brush them off, he did it so casually that athy didn't even notice. And I think Jeannete didn't even realize herself, like Lucas said it's just her desire to be loved are overwhelmed. And in the recent chapter, when Athy sneak a peek at her first life, it look like Ezekiel fallen for past Athanasia, so I think Claude or Ezekiel love for Jeannete are the result of the magic.
I feel really sorry for jeannete if that's the case. I want her to be happy too. ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡
Ok so wait I thought Jennette was the cursed child destined for misfortune, so why is Claude supposedly dying and Anastasia getting hit with the bullshit.
