Okay first off I absolutely ADORE Leslie from Monster Duchess, she’s actually the cutest, but I wanted to state my opinion about this MC too.
Granted I’ve only read 3 chapters but from Adele I don’t get the vibe of ‘weak and feeble damsel in distress’ but rather the feeling of someone who has given everything that she is towards something and gotten nothing back, she is just so broken and tired that she doesn’t have the energy to care about revenge or plans for the future, right now she only wants to get out and get away from this void that she poured her life into.
Again, I love Leslie, but not everyone can bear that kind of weight in their lives without breaking (all props to Leslie’s inner strength) and I don’t think Adele’s any worse for not being able to actively fight against her toxic family.
Plus, just comparison here, Leslie’s family was emotional and passionate in their abuse (beatings, yelling, starvation, attempted murder) while Adele’s family was cold and disdainful in their abuse (failed expectations, ignoring her, looking down). So two different environments (both horrendous) produced two different mindsets.
So far I’m liking both MCs, but ya know I’ve only had 3 chapters for Adele so maybe I’ll change my mind, I just wanted to share my opinion ╮(￣▽￣)╭
What does this story have to do with Monster Duchess?? There’s plenty of other FL’s that are much weaker than Adele, I don’t really know why there’s a comparison between Leslie and Adele specifically
Of course there are other weaker FL examples but there are FLs who are treated so much worse but still manages to do so much on their own.
Adele's story reminds me of Leslie's situation (MC of Monster Duchess).
I also love and admire Leslie. She is one of few progressive new type heroines I ve ever seen like Melissa from "Beware of the Villainess", Sasha from"The Pet of the Villainess" or UGLYHOOD.
I don't disagree with your opinions but even you just pointed out that Leslie's circumstances are so much harsher and worse than Adele and she still was able to break out of her family ties with her determination and courage.
Even Tia from "The Villainess lives Twice" has more backbone and self-awareness than Adele.
I think the difference between her and my favourites that I mentioned is RAGE.
Rage made these FLs/MCs become more badass and competent on their own.
And Adele doesn't have that which makes her sooo meek...
I am interested in her story but it does frustrate me that she isn't as capable like the other formidable "bitches".
Please Tell me why exactly you like a MC like Adele.

By the way, the MC of "Daisy - How to Become the Duke's Fiancée" is also kinda meek like Adele but after her cruel death in the first timeline she managed to change her situation/fate through sheer willpower and intelligence that was triggered by her inner "rage". She is still a really nice girl but she also became a smart bitch that can hold a candle to others!

Thnx for the raw links, I did check out a few chapters and Adele does have more emotion in her than the first 3 chapters showed! I was seeing her as a very tired ‘done with life, I just want this to end’ type of character but apparently I was wrong, she does appear more the damsel in distress type. Wop ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
Still I am interested in her story and her character. I love face slapping, especially rebirth or transmigration ones (becoming an obsession.....) and Adele, yeah I guess she is the weak someone save me type, I still respect her for trying so hard in her first life. As an emotionally fragile person that family would totally wreck me but Adele kept trying and trying to believe she could be happy. Even in her second life she isn’t dominated by her family (mentally, I mean, still doing everything for them) and is forming her own personality
Don’t get me wrong, rage is fun, I’m with you that it helps makes the characters more badass and powerful on their own. And i do admit that a big reason why I sometimes read stories with weak FLs is really just to see someone get out of a bad situation and be happy.
Again, face slapping is also a HUGE plus
Have you tried Priscilla’s Marriage or Sincerely I became a Duke’s maid??? They’re also really good!! Priscilla is owning her second life and Ibelina just does whatever she wants (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Ehh but I really don’t think you could compare the two as they’re two completely different people. Not every character is gonna react the exact way you expect them to. Leslie received tons of harsh treatment and abuse and was personally sent to be sacrificed by her family, in this story Adele doesn’t get as much of a worse treatment and she’s mostly neglected/ignored. I feel like the worse you’re treated, the stronger you’d want to get revenge, and it doesn’t seem like Adele’s head is full of rage or anger. Honestly if I were her, I wouldn’t want to have to put in so much effort to get revenge and would rather run away and live peacefully, why would I wanna deal with such annoying people?
And tbh even if she did get sent back in time, it would be strange if she suddenly was a genius and had a master plan, knowing exactly how to get back at her family. I don’t even think Adele was really angry at her father for having her killed, I think she was more disappointed or exhausted. I’ve looked at the latest raws and the story is still just barely starting, I don’t even think she knows that she has the ability to heal yet. You can’t really expect her to go back in time and then immediately jump into action.
It’s like that “fight or flight” saying, many can be one or the other. Some FL’s would choose to get their revenge or others would choose to do their best to avoid their bad ending and not be so focused on vengeance. Have you ever seen Doctor Elise? The FL was technically executed by the ML but she never wanted revenge at all and focused more on improving herself and helping those around her. A Stepmother's Märchen Is where the FL is killed and gets sent back in time, but she doesn’t even try to find out why or who killed her.

To be honest, I think Priscilla has it really too good.
I can't really relate to her, to be honest.
She turned back time because she couldn't handled her first timeline position. Almost 30, short hair, a hardened body with some scars, no high status, not much money, single... She was only fixated on fixing her past instead of moving forward...
Her suffering and motivation is not exactly that impactful. Just my opinion.

I like IBELINA because she is regular commoner without any special abilities but she is able to help and protect the fragile cursed ML in her own way. I can feel her intention.

I did read Doctor Elise and A Stepmother's Märchen.
But these MCs are going to the front to change things for the better.
Elise is risking her life to help as many people as she can and Suri is literally fighting back against her late husbands relatives and her parasitic blood family!
They don't have revenge in their mind but justice and redemption.
And now look at Adele... She is a pitiful soul who needs the help of the ML her black knight in shining armor to do anything impactful.
I have to think about the MC of "Daisy - How to Become the Duke's Fiancée". She is doing a much better job than Adele how to change her fate/horrendous situation.
After her death and rebirth she doesn't have any vengeance in mind. Her priorities are becoming independent woman by having your own vast fortune and taking care of her little sister. She wants to avoid the people who harmed and killed but evtl she has to fearlessly confront them so she can live more piecefully.
Adele doesn't know how to empower or really protect herself at all.
She just gets luckly.

This kinda proves my point of how different each one of these FL’s are. They have their own different personalities and mindsets as to what they want to do. I don’t really understand why every FL has to be so independent and do most things by themself, I think it should be okay to let themself be protected once in a while.
Also I really don’t see at all how she depends on the knight ML to help her, even after looking through all nineteen raw chapters. The only time he helped her was from a wolf that she literally had no ability of fighting with her bare hands. Other than that, the ML was the one to keep coming to her house when she never asked him to come. She also stopped her mother from slapping her on her own. I think it’s an exaggeration to say that she’s a sort of damsel in distress after being saved once, and her not taking much action yet. Just cause she hasn’t done anything yet, doesn’t mean she’s super weak.
Anyways tbh I think you have kind of high expectations of female leads or have a set mindset of: “female leads must be able to do stuff on their own and have the passion to hate the ones that hurt them.” I’ve pretty much seen all the stories you mentioned plus more, and I still don’t have any expectations of new female leads that I find. I like to keep an open mind and not expect them to be a certain level of strong, intelligence, or have certain personality traits such as “righteous, justice, or rage-filled.” These female leads may all be in the same category of being reborn, but each one of them are different in other ways.
I think if you free yourself from the usual expectations of the many similar female leads in this genre, then you might be able to find something new or not be so disappointed from seeing something you don’t enjoy.

Agree to disagree. It's because I am open-minded and have critical thinking that I can criticize tropes and archetypes that are harmful or outdated.
There is nothing wrong more stories about emancipation and independent characters for characters.
In the end everyone has its own interpretation or how they view things.
You like Adele how the author portrays her and I believe she can do better or can improve more especially because she has priviledges that the other more empowered MCs in worse situations don't have.
Let's stop fighting about who is more right and respect each other preferences.

I have read the current raws and I must say that the MC is unfortunately inferior to the MC Leslie of the Monster Duchess.
You see Leslie is so much younger, smaller and fragile than Adele but she is able stand up against heir biological inhumane toxic family through her own enlightment, fierce spirit, cunningness and competence. She did get saved sometimes by the Monster family but she is an active determined protagonist who drives the story and the second important MC is an adult woman over her 40s who helps her become stronger.
Adele on the other hand seems to be more the classic weaker FL with damsel in distress traits .
She still has to suffer and fear her family, she wants to run away without any retaliation or an precise plan how to protect herself in the future, she gets lucky by suddenly getting reborn on her younger years, unknownly blessed with healing power and a black knight in dark armor she accidently saved. Well she does evtl defend herself against the maid and adoptive mother so far but that's it. She still helpless against the rest of her shitty family.
After reading 19 raws of "Please Throw Me Away" it is the lovestruck ML who is actively doing most of the work to change the situation of Adele and of course he did rescue her from unknown cloaked kidnappers (not send from the scum father).
