She was adopted into the family to replace a dead daughter, since she looked like the Duke. But later she found out she is actually the Duke's illegitimate and abandoned daughter. The family is really a bunch of assholes. ML (black armoured knight) is also a Duke i think, someone of high nobility as well. He's rude to the duke when they first meet (he visits her house to see her) and when FL asks later why he behaved like that, ML just chuckles and says "I hate him" lmao
