True it's not healthy in any way. Even though the ML is at fault, the fact that you as a person knows how much sufferings he went through makes it even harder to tell him off especially when you care about that person. I know none of this is justify his actions but that's the case. If your not strong enough to stand up for yourself or you care more about the other person more than your own well being, you submit.
As far as real life is concerned, what you said is one of the right ways, but don't you think it's so much more complex? Firstly People involved would have to recognize their own faults and admit, most people would fail at this, nobody wants to see their ugly side lol much less admit they are twisted and need help ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

I mean the ML did hug and save a dead body in his arms for who knows how long ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ I just...well I expect more from this MC. I think it's not the character's fault, it's all the "situation" that was messed up and I wish it just didn't happen. I do think the MC care about his own well being, it just the situation didn't let him choose, in a way cause..magic or bs like that.
most people that do therapy do not admit to their faults most of the time, yeas they know they have a problem. the MC know the ML has a problem and in a way, the ML also knows his actions isn't that "healthy" so I think they both will end up in therapy...if it existed in that world, which it isn't for some odd reason ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ or the MC would have drag him there and they both would end up doing it together
sorry I'm rumbling now XD

Hahahaha bs. Well I like to read stories to escape reality so these sort of psychological crazy sh*t doesn't sit well with me. I don't think the writer is at fault but what a weird cup of tea would that be to enjoy lol.
Also hahahhahaha I'm sorry you sound so sincere but it's funny to imagine, the MC being like, "you crazy piece of crap come with me !!! " And drags him to a therapy room ( ̄∇ ̄")

I also like stories to forget reality, but not that kind of crazy shit of hugging a dead body. that not my thing XD
ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ I know right? I wish it would have happened, like for real. dragging the ML to the therapy and force him to sit down in front of the psychologist and talk about his life omg ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
I started reading the novel after discovering this. The story is Soo good. There is mystery, drama, action. Although the very little romance is torture ( ꈨ ˙ ꈨ ), it complements with the character building... But Has anybody ever had this problem where you are attached to a character so much that you cannot bear to see them going through hardships so you leave the story all together? No? Just me? ( ≧Д≦)
