I'm not entirely sure but from the way it looks he is the male lead/love interest. He was just some guy probably aware his gullible mom fell for a pyramid scheme and so he went to go get her so she wouldn't continue to get scammed

Basically MC was working for a scam probably pyramid scheme but she didn't realize it was a scam. ML's mother was involved and he got mad at everyone apart of the scam including MC. He thinks she's scum for now... But don't worry after sometime he'll stop being a huge brat heh:)
