Grand duke is pretty smart, showing the butler, that Artezia is the one he respects and whose wishes he will fulfill, by letting her invite him, after disregarding invitation from Lawrence. It might seem like an ordinary romantic gesture, but it is actually pretty effective way to show, that Artezia is the one with power, when it comes to him. Or maybe I'm reading too much into this.
