The story started off with the MC losing his brother and going to avenge him, but everything’s gone his way since? He hasn’t failed, lost, or anything that people go through in these types of webtoons. Loss builds character, determination, and strength. If he just levels up so easily it’s boring. He might as well be a god without the title and just wave his hand around to bring his brother back from the dead. Nothing about this in any of the chapters so far has painted his character with growth, as you’d expect out of a title like ‘Ranker ...’ which literally means going through the ranks. Getting stronger through defeat is a much better concept than just pure luck/power/intelligence. Things that are said to be “impossible” shouldn’t be so easily mastered. There should be more difficulty in his path, more adversaries and less friends.

Pretty sure he felt all the loss his brother went through at the beginning. Going through more of that has the risk of feeling dreary instead of exciting. They're probably going to build up more difficulty later on when he fights the rest of his revenge targets. Having a genius as the main character has its own appeal. Especially for a revenge story.

I agree to a point, I don’t think a genius should have such an easy path either. You can be a genius and still struggle, and more difficulties in the beginning may give into a smoother transition to lots of power later on in the story. Right now there is no transition from a newbie to a master. You can barely tell he entered the game world a short period of time ago.

I mean that's explained by the pocket watch that basically transferred all of his brother's experience over to him.

They already established early on when they mentioned he used to be in the army that he's a very cautious person. He's patient, calculated, knows his abilities and thinks of the most logical route to his benefit. I like this type of character personally. It's very different from the hero mentality a lot of other main characters have because he's an introvert and is not one to put himself in unfavorable situations.
We can see an example here, even though he wanted to avenge his brother he didn't just go to the top floors, get beaten up, then realizing he has to improve his abilities (like many other main characters would do). He instead spends some time to cultivate his skills to reach proficiency to make sure when he gets up there he will wipe them all out.
I also personally don't need to see a main character reach rock bottom before they're allowed to become suddenly become better because this feels more consistent with his character. But, if you enjoy these types of stories then you might enjoy Solo Leveling or The Second Coming of Gluttony better.
