So my take on it is any physical 'defects' lowers beauty. I think she's adorable with the freckles but I think its interesting to think of it like two different beauty standards. The modern one where 'thin = better' and the beast man one. Winston has a scar and is labeled as ugly. Even though it's not really a bad scar. And with it I think he looks more attractive but I think their standard looks at blemishes aside from marks as ugly. Freckles. Discoloration such as mud and scars. But thats just my take away. Its not really explained clearly.
The take on beauty in this comic is disgusting. Adding some freckles made her ugly? Thats fickle. My main issue is the beauty standards, and the fact she's so scared of curtis at the start-when he's basically the same as parker, but nicer and more mature! She should also just explain that she's human, or at least mention her period more/make herself clear if she wants boundaries. The beastmen arent human, I dont get why she doesnt click that faster.
