In my opinion it doesn't matter if he has changed (even though he has done nothing to prove he has anyway) and forgiveness is more about letting yourself be happy despite the people who have wronged you. Even if he had changed he still cause so much pain and trauma no matter how much he "cared" deep down i don't believe he deserved better. I don't even hate him that much because the Mc is now in a happy health relationship.
