I think they just find it interesting. Most panels wont add much to the story but this author pays attention to lil details.

Just wanna express how i deeply noticed the way chapter 8 page 8 was drawn, specifically those 3 panels with a shot on those cigarettes and his fingers when he tried getting but then pushed it back/opted not to
i could think of some but it's still somehow a rarity to see those men in shoujo romance or manhwas or somewhat historical and transmigrate/reincarnate/go back in time types to have a chara smoke a cig, more so have those panel shots like wanting to smoke but then chose not to (=・ω・=)
