The reason I don't like oliver is cause sometimes is so frustrating, to see someone so naive and trusting. No matter what, even if it's for love, he shouldn't have forgot the fact that alex is a serial killer. He kills people.Hes not gonna change his brutal ways just for the sake of love. The naive belief that love can change anyone and everything was completely crushed here. Alex didn't give two shirts about oliver, most of the time alex would be lost in his thoughts when he hangs out with oliver,
Even when he confessed his feelings to alex, he didn't even seem remotely considerate and bothered by it. These are huge red flags. I'm not saying be deserved to die, But he did have to face the consequences of his actions.
And also in the end, the story tries to show how there's no point in being so naiveto others. His own family didn't even show up for his funeral, nor did any of his friends, except for black head. Only his sister visited, cause she had time in hand. Not even one friend was shown. And that sucks.

I think the family didn't show up, cause they were homophobic. I'm not sayin his naivity was a good trait, but it's something very common. So many people blindly fall in love with someone toxic and end up in abusive relationships, it's just so normal, it's chilling. I like this character, because he is so human, so normal, it's like a cautionary tale. He is not kind or trusting to the point it's exaggerated, he is just a lonely guy, who meets someone irresistibly charming and gets smitten, he is a perfect example of a typical serial killer victim. Women killed by Ted Bundy weren't necessarily stupid, he was just that charismatic. Like they were absolutely ordinary women, Oliver is an ordinary guy and that's why I find it so scary, it can happen to anyone. You don't have to be like Clark, who gets off of murder stories and provokes a murderer, you can just do your job like everyday and then you meet them.
Sure Oliver shouldn't have forgotten, who Alex is and believe, he changed, but that part is what makes him so human. People make excuses, when they're in love, people want tob believe their loved one is a better person and they want to believe, they're somewhat special.
I'm convinced, that even if Oliver didn't introduce Alex to Clark, he would still get killed. Alex would eventually fall in love with him in his own sick way and then after some time killed him like his previous victims.

Comparing Alex with Ted bundy isn't right in my opinion because I'm sure he (ted)didn't tell his victims that he was a serial killer before asking them if he could drop them home.Nobody no matter how naive would be with a serial killer in a room without a backup plan.Even Bum from killing stalking was afraid of Sangwoo at some point or the other but The doc? Not even a little. He knew that Alex killed people he loved but then what different did he do that could have healed him?.Doc spend time with Alex just the way the previous victims of Alex did before he killed them whether they broke up with him (Alex)or not, they ended up getting killed.
It's een more disappointing that the smarted character- Clark- also fell in lov with that idiot doc.
Isn't there a difference between being kind and being stupid?

He might not have outright said it (which I don't know for sure) , but there were many red flags. If you want other examples, there are literally fandoms for serial killers and other criminals. Some people just long to be special to someone so much, that the idea of being that beloved special one to someone, who is able to inflict such violence on others, is absolutely exquisite to them. That "they are only kind to me, only love me, are different with me" kind of feeling is something many people crave, especially affection starved people like Oliver. There are countless people, who romanticize Harley Quinn's relationships with Joker and desire such relationship. Everything is of course under the condition, that the criminal is attractive. Trust me, being attractive turns creepy into mysterious, crazy into misunderstood and your crimes into mistakes.
Bum is a terrible example, as he is not only a fictional character, but also a stalker( so not mentally okay himself), who fell in love with a persona Sangwoo created. Unlike Oliver, he fell in love, before he knew Sangwoo was a serial killer. He never loved Sangwoo the killer, he loved the image of Sangwoo, he started stalking and desperately clinged to it.
Oliver probably thought, he could change Alex and that was stupid, but it doesn't mean, he was stupid, he was just naive, lonely and smitten by Alex's charm. Clark was an aloof selfish man, who never made Oliver feel loved or reassured, longterm relationship with such person is just draining and terrible for one's self esteem.
Oliver was not stupid, he was lonely(he pretty much had no one), naive, mostly in closet, anxious and desperate for affection. He was not stupid, he was just in a perfect position to be manipulated and met a perfect manipulator.

Omggg thank you so much ! You absolutely told all the things on my mind about Doc character... I also find it hard to understand why he is receiving so much hate after having finished the second time reading this manhwa and feel really heart broken for the Doc death, for what i have seen... he surely deserved so much better than all of what has happened to him. Well at least there were still some here and there sweet moments between him and the one who actually care and love for him but dont quite know how to show it sucessfully that is Clark. And again, thank you for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate it as it brings me a feeling of understanding haha.
Wish you have a nice day! ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
I love this! So many twists and turns. I don't understand all the hate the psychiatrist Oliver is getting. He is the most realistic character among the bunch, sure he isn't as entertaining as a charming serial killer, or a funny sociopathic asshole, but he is quite relatable. He kept in contact with a shitty ex, because he can't bring himself to really hate him and is too nice to leave someone, who doesn't have any friends, alone. He fell in love with a bad boy and tried to see him as a better person and believed, he would change. He usually didn't act impulsively and tried to think things through. In the end, his only shortcoming was, he was a bit too naive and trusting. Yall only hate him, because he loved Alex and was Clark's ex and that's bad for your toxic ship of choice. Even though, all his attempts to get Alex were pretty tame and genuine.
I also found the corrupt inspector quite realistic, being under your parent's influence well into adulthood unable to break free is not such an uncommon thing. Not reporting a serial killer, because he doesn't want to get in trouble and for his selfish gain is also not that outlandish.
Clark and Alex were both incredibly well written characters, but you don't usually meet people like them in real life. I understand, that they are much more entertaining, than more realistic characters and everyone else will feel a bit boring compared to them, but please don't shit on characters, that don't deserve it.
