They changed the chubby Neria either because they wanted to make her more attractive, because it is unlikely that she stayed chubby while undergoing harsh training, and / or because they wanted to symbolize her character development. choose either/ all of the options.

That's one lovable character about muscle dude. Even though he's a noble, he doesn't discriminate. And no, Niro did not discriminate, but he started to blush towards her when she slimmed down. No hate to that, but it just shows he's just in it for the looks. Not for the skills, and personality.
(But I know too that that's just how people are. I just want him to be not so in to that, because I have encountered many stories that are either forever single MC's or MC's who only have eyes for 1 person type.)
