I think it parallels to the MC because she’s a commoner. Like I’m pretty sure Lockeman like the MC at this point and discreetly hints to her. Like when he “ I found a girl-“ I think he mean girlfriend!!!! And then the four clauses story about the noble and commoner parallel the MC and Lockeman’s relationship. Even the noble man on his deathbed was like I’m popular with the lady’s but I really like that commoner girl which I think matched Lockeman’s situation.
agreed...but it's such a roundabout way I would have totally missed the meaning if I was only told about those four clauses without the backstory...
