I agree with everything you just said. she seems guarded because after she went back in time she began to realize that she was simply a pawn in milies schemes. I really like the fact that she learns from her experiences and uses her hourglass to express her frustrations. she also seems to be learning how to harness her anger and have better control over it. I absolutely love her character develoment within this series
The thing Lane said about Aria having low self esteem is so spot on. Like at first I thought she was just faking being humble but sometimes she seems to genuinely underestimate herself. I guess that's why she fell for Mielle's tactics in the past life and developed severe inferiority complex. Also towards people like Sarah, Jessie, or Oscar, I feel like she's actually more sensitive and sincere than she herself realises. She just calls herself a villainess and acts cold towards people to protect herself, because people won't be able to use her again if she's the one "using" them.
