Who does Raymond marry???
It looks like the daughter of a prince... someone powerful. Ian leaves him because he is forced to leave him which makes Raymond become crazy. The elderly woman wants to make sure that Raymond will put through the revenge. She has her own motivation to support the young man.
They end up together.
The man is already in love with Ian there is no doubt about it. He fell into his own trap. It becomes even more obvious, when Ian sides with rebels and Raymond made sure that he wouldn't get caught with the rebels. However, at the end he realized that siding with power wasn't the right way because he would become like the ones he despised so much that's why in the final chapter he helps the revolutionaries so that the prince loses his power... so his marriage becomes the signal for the revolution.
