For those of you who don’t know

The uke and his friend are a prime example of what we call internalized homophobia.

Because of the pressure to conform with the gender norms of society, you reject your sexuality and start bullying others like you as an affirmation that you are not one of them. So the friend basically projecting for the same reason the uke is.

Most of us have to go through that phase before we learn to embrace our sexuality and it’s actually quite common in most countries with religious practices or a misogynistic, patriarchal environment.

it kinda shows how most of those who commented are straight women who fetishize gay love since they are not even aware of this. Allys are fine but psa my sexuality is not for your entertainment.

The way most people here aren’t even are of what internalized homophobia just proves that indeed a lot of straight women fetishize gay love. Being an ally is good, but psa my sexuality is not for your entertainment.

Literally, thank you for writing this. The majority of people who read this manga will be like “yeah i’m gay and homophobia lol” like no. It takes weeks, months, even years to get over your internalized homophobia, to get over something that’s pretty much forced into you since birth.

It’s scary, and terrifying, because it’s like your worst fear us being revealed and you have no idea how to fix it. Because everyone treats being gay like it /is/ something fix, even while they’re all fetishizing it.

As a straight girl myself, it’s quite disgusting to see others fetishise gay people. I’ve support the LGBTQ+ community for years and will continue to do so but when heterosexual people use them as a form of entertainment, it’s sickening. I like reading yaoi because I like the plots, character developments and what you can learn from it. In fact, I’ll read absolutely anything as long as the story line goes somewhere. These girls that are only here for the sex chapters completely disregard real problems that gay people face and seeing the ignorant comments really takes away from the hard work of the author.
Or those girls who take idols and fetishise them into gay lovers. You can’t just decide they’re gay. There is a fine line between supporting the LGBTQ+ and being delusional about it. I’m afraid they’ve overstepped it by a mile.

They won’t apologise for it but someone has to. I’m sorry that your sexuality is being fetishised when it should be normalised. You quite simply don’t deserve to feel that way.

I haven't come out to family and don't intend to do it though my friends know and they don't mind. When I confessed to a girl who was my the then best friend I was plainly rejected and she started to ignore me altogether. So I drowned myself in an ocean of depression. To know more I started reading yaoi and ofc that didn't help but I got addicted to it. That's basically how I became a fujoshi ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ it has been a long time....

god, i'm asexual, try explaining that one to your family.

i support everyone's freedom to love whom ever they love. i literally have zero judgments on any form of relationship, so long as they are both of age and consenting.

it was clear as day to me that this guy, like our MC had internalized homophobia. i don't know why. i just have a good sense for these things.
i hate that they make you guys feel that way. that it's something to be fetishized.
i'm with the latter, i read every single genre on this website. but yeah, i like yaoi. not just for the sexual part. but because a fair amount of time i love the chemistry between them. the bickering and the bantering. (i grew up with brothers, so i prefer guys acting like idiots and horsing around.) Shoujo ruins it for me with 100+ chapters before they even think they like them. then god forbid they mention sex in an open context, or your ass will be avoided. and they guys act all perfect. or blushing way too much.

(plus yaoi got yakuza themes, and action, assassins', cops, writers, etc. with the occasion fun phycological ones: killing stalking )
