Yup but korean mentality or asian mentalities in general are different from our western ones. In their society what people think is a big matter. That's why plastic surgery and being slim or success is studies is so important there. They're pretty secretive people cause they are kind of afraid of being different, and so being judged. It's a cultural fact, therefore we can't dismiss it that easily.
He is afraid of being mocked and hated by others, but his kids are everything to Hosik. He is not embarassed of them, see at how he spend all his time with them and treasures them.
It kinda makes me sad that the two of them feel the need to hide their marriage and children from people they know.
