jeanette didnt even know she had black magic in her and she believed claude was her dad. ezekiel married jeanette not because he loved her but because of obligation. aka his dad. as you can see in this timeline, ezekiel betrays his father because he loves athy but in the previous timeline he was a slave to his family name
But wasn't it shown on a previous chapter that he possibly liked athy before too?
i’ve read that too, Ezekiel together with Jeanette bcuz he didn’t meet athy earlier.
he DID like athy. but there were different circumstances. he met athy in this timeline because of lucas transporting her into the alpheus household. but in the previous timeline, he only meets athy briefly. he liked her but he didnt know her that well and so it wasnt as much of an effect to his resolve against his dad
So what if , since Ezekiel already had feelings for athy in the original timeline, Jeanette's father taught her how to use magic to her and somehow or another she made Ezekiel fall for her using magic.
If this is true, I don't believe it was ever malicious since Jeanette is actually really innocent and nice, but innocence in cartoon amounts can become harmful, and I think that is the case here.
