I don’t agree with the comments or such hatred toward Hangyum. But I have to remind myself since chapter 19, I have read the Korean first. Hangyum is different in the Korean. The story is a bit different as well.
Like in chapter 43, Hangyum is way too cruel in the Tapas version. Tapas is localization and westernized this. They are creating their own story.
So Hangyum is NOT a goddamn spoiled fuckboy. He has not done anything really to be left alone in his own misery that should go to Jaehee.

I think his actions speak insecurity. Fearful of Hajin knew the truth that Hajin would never want to see him. (19,35) What he overheard seriously affected him and even after 5 years. He is just scare Hajin would leave when he wanted to have some time with him. Hajin started it to be more (ch 8) , if you catch Hangyum hurtful expression when he said I thought you didn’t like guys. (Ch 8). His explanation in chapter 40 does speak for those actions. He maybe blind for not seeing that Hajin wanted him to be the one from high school. He maybe a coward for not admitting. But He had reasons for gaslighting. Hajin has been lying to him also. It has been both. It is both their faults over misunderstandings. Not just one.
However. He is not a manchild. Not a fuckboy. He is cute, sweet, vulnerable has insecurities. He is cocky arrogant and jackass at times.
He is always putting Hajin first. He is puppy seme. And he did what He thought Hajin wanted. That is to transfer and never see each other again. But Hangyum decides to indirectly say goodbye and tell him he is going to sing because Hajin liked music. Chapter 17. He says maybe if you hear me sin you will fall in love with me.
So he transferred for Hajin
He disappeared for Hajin
He became an idol for Hajin
He lied to be with Hajin thinking Hajin never wanted to see him again. Hangyum is not much of a jerk in the Korean. The Korean story is much better. Tapas ruined the real story. Hangyum is not a bad character. Maybe when the fan translations are up, you can give it another try. It will have small differences to big differences.

I don't think the original Korean story script would make that much of a difference since I can see visually how he treats Hajin and behave.
