This has to be one the most insulting things I have ever read. I know this author clearly didn’t understand the perspective of a queer man but, wow this is just truly exploitative and harmful. BL already has the problem of fetishizing and hyper sexualization the lives of queer men, but now this author has taken it upon themselves to explain their pain and trauma is just a gratuitous and poorly thought out manner. I’m honestly just shocked how offended and disgusted I am by this entire plot.

He is a homosexual author. He knows the pains and tribulations. Please reread what Miura said before that big moment, and then read the novel section I read. The two had a misunderstanding—Miura was ready to let go, but Ono made it impossible for her to due to the audience .

Honestly if he’s a gay author this makes it worse. Because of just how idealized the situation is with no sense of reality. If his intent was to spread Fujoshi’s can understand the gay/bi men they fetishize in this way makes them allies like our FL, this is even more homophobic then they had intended. Or that our MC is pitiable despite being self destructive and selfish but learns nothing other than he’s always the victim. That’s not to say some queer men do not face this reality, but the author has only painted it as just growing pains, not cause and effect. For instance using a girl to your “beard” is forgiven for him being gay when him being gay and him using and cheating on her are not mutually exclusive. There are by far better plots that utilize the queer experience and this definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve recommended some on another post should you be inclined to check them out.

The purpose behind this story is none of the above...the fujoshi element may be noticeable throughout, but it was simply a way for the two to have found each other. And Jun just realized in this chapter that he can't keep being self-destructive; he can't keep waiting for somebody to save him as the tragic hero. He realized he was one-sided in the relationship and never opened up. He was behind a glass wall like Miura said. He is ready to own up for what he did and continue his life. But, there is still a couple steps before he can and the relationship between him and Miura is one. This chapter sets that up.

I think this is really a story you need to read more than once...I felt the same as you guys did initially while translating, but have grown to see more why working on it and reading the novel.
