i’m not saying the manhua is bad or that any character is bad. you’re not even considering adopted kids lol. i’m just confused as to why being gay is freaking everyone out. it IS homophobic whether you agree or not is irrelevant.
I mean sure, he doesn't want his son to be gay, but being homosexual wasn't period typical, it was a foreign thing. And I don't think that it's a homophobic subplot or that the dad is homophobic, he just wants his son to live a good life. And I don't mean to say that being gay is wrong, I'm just saying that in the time the manhua takes place in, being gay and adopting a kid because of it would ruin everyone involved.
Plus, adopting wasn't period-typical as well, usually, adoption was only if it was the child of deceased family members, or you simply needed a child.
