I won’t comment on the military thing, b/c I don’t have enough knowledge, but I think she became white b/c vampires are pale and don’t have sunlight. So I think the author just went really literal with that, and I guess she didn’t kill anyone b/c she still keep some of her “innocence” and u know the usual women are “delicate beings”.

I agree with the thing about the American military. The size of it and what they make the soldiers do is wholly unnecessary and solely for the benefit of the rich. However, her skin turned white because vampires are stereotypically pale Remember, she was just an innocent young lady when she got turned, she doesn't want to kill anybody. It's just her character.

I cannot totally disagree about the role the US has played in the middle east. I did spend 22 in the Marine Corps, and I seriously believed and enforced the Law of Land Warfare, which is designed to protect non-combatants. I may have been naive and completely fooled by some industrial/resource-grabbing US conglomerate, but I don't really think so. What I believed in when I fought was to do my damnedest to keep people safe from Sadaam Hussein's genocidal policies. I didn't fight, being too old, in the second set of campaigns, but I cannot help but feel that I do not particularly like ISIS or the Taliban. I spent a number of deployments in the middle east, and have had both civilian and military friends in Jordan, Oman, Dubai, and Kuwait. I have also had Iranian American friends, both within the military and in the civilian world. I have found all of them to be intelligent, civilised, humane, and great people to be around. I know that there are a great many Americans who have an irrational hatred of those who are not "light, white, tight, and bright," but they are not the jarheads that I, my wife, and my sister spent our time in the Marines with. Yeah, we had idiots like that, but the majority were really decent people who served with the desire to protect the innocent. Yes, the US military has done some things that I hate, but that doesn't make Sadaam Hussein, ISIS, the Taliban and others of their ilk into feminist love muffins either.

The Harleyquinn Romance Novels are not feminist, progressive and are guilty of orientalism and Hollywood has a history on how it portrays foreign countries and glorify military soldiers.
I believe in some your arguments. But you probably also know the history how the American Military and CIA forced a regime change in countries Iran, Afghanistan and Guatamala, how the Vietnam War was a mistake and that Iraq War started with a lie...
And under the Trump administration the US Troops withrawed from Northern Syria which gave Erdogan the chance to attack the Syrian rebels who also kept ISIS terrorists in check? And wasn't there recently an unprovoked airstrike on Quassim Suleimani? Iranians are already suffering under the US sanctions.
There are so many other historical facts I can mention and they are not Fake News!
So it is very hard not to see American Soldiers as not complete brainwashed superior monsters.
By the way, aren't the Soldiers easily disposable by the US Goverment?

Hello I want apologize for my harsh remarks.
I believe now that the situation you and your people were in are quite complex.
I can admit that I can be wrong about facts and eager to generalize certain groups but I am still sure that the USA nowadays is always about maintaining power/influence/hegemony.
There are lot of people around the world questioning why America and its army needs to interfere with so many countries and their conflicts. There is even the argument that tertorist groups like ISIS exit because the US attacked their homeland with so many heavy weapons regardless what the motivation or plan was. It makes me very biased towards the American goverment and the Soldiers who joined the "invasion".
But I want to try to find a middleground.
And I am sorry for demonzing you without fully trying to understand you.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I don't feel that you demonized me. I also disagree with many of the actions taken by my government, and feel that much of US diplomacy is quite short sighted, and some, unfortunately, is done for all the wrong reasons. The worst thing about any war I can think of, is that it is invariably the innocent who end up paying the heaviest price, and rarely the people responsible for starting and continuing the hostilities.
I am also pleased that we can have a civilized dialogue here in the comments forum. I think that neither you nor I are herd followers to any political ideology, but rather people who at least try to live the "examined life," and actually think about things instead of getting all our opinions from some biased news outlet or party platform

Thank you for replying on my last message. It may be late but you still thought of reanswering me. I really appreciate it.
I have to say even though I know that the goverment does not reflect the people/the whole population, my impression of America is that is full of insane extreme people.
And demagogue/plutocrat Donald Trump has become quite the poster child of unlimited white American insanity, fear and hate.
I am a Taiwanese who was born and lives in Germany and Trump's insults even managed to reach me. Take for example: Kung Flu and Germany is a delinquent!
There was a time where I really looked up to the USA and believed every Hollywood movies... Then I started to question and did my research on the American history and the US foreign policies (Nukes on Fukushima, Agent Orange in Vietnam, CIA coup in Guatemala, the Iraq war lie, Sanctions against Russia and Iran, Tradewar with China...)
I became quite disillusioned with the American Dream and how messed up the system is.
You have huge problems with public fundings, educations, student loan debts, health care costs, mental health issues, unregulated prices and products (corn syrup), obesity, homelessness, economic disparities, tax breaks for the rich, public transportation, erasure of minorities (white washed stories of native americans and Tulsa), gun control, mass shootings, religious far right groups, ultra conservatives antimask activists (Karens), white supremists (Charlotteville + Amy Cooper), common racial profilings, police brutality (George Flyod), lack of labor unions (thanks to Reaganomics), privatized overcrowed prisons (Bill Clinton), war on drugs (lie by Nixon to “criminalize” black people and the anti-war left), maternity leave and so on...
I still love watching progresive diverse shows, indie movies and social awareness youtube videos from Americans but I still have to wonder how on earth does the US state still function???
I get the impression that your country becomes more and more regressive as time passess. And there still American citizens who claim that America is the greatest and no.1 on everything... How are you and your family able to survive there??? One fucked up and you can be already banctrupt and living on the street.
No offense, but looking at your state makes me really glad that my parents decided against immigrating to the US.
Nowadays many should be aware that the American Military is the true evil one that caused the Middle East Country to become radically so regressive.
And why does the female Vampire become so white and is not allowed to have killed bad guys? Compared to the Colonel who did killed middle east people?
