Well it's sadly a common type of story like "Cinderella"
And I mean, yeah it's stupid and exaggerated but, sadly, not nonexistent
It's more like something "cultural" like those historical books or drama where many riches family were "selling" their daughters to Princes or Emperors and where death in the harem was something "common"
Well same pattern but in modern day and boom
And well tbh sometime the world work this way
I have a friend who came to France in her 2nd year of university. She told us how bullying was pretty common in her all girl university in China. About how, because of her skin disease, she "offended" a well of girl and end up being bullied by, at first the girl and her friends and by the middle of the year the whole class. Old water were splashed on her in the bathroom, her gym clothes often disappeared, sharp objects were put in her shoes and one time she found a dead bird was put in her lunchbox...One day she asked for help to her teacher and what? She didn't do anything! Only because the girl father was a huge "helper" of the university (I mean money of course) and the girl didn't like how some people left her and how my friend just asked for help.
So my friend just go annoyed one day and told her parents...Who were important people, more important than the "main" bully's father and so my friend, her parents, the bully, her parents and the principal were together in principal bureau...The girl said she was innocent and that my friend was actually the one bullying her!!!
But proof were given (and witnesses), the girl threatened my friend because she was going to be expelled and the girl father just fucking slapped her and told her to shut up and to apologise because..
Wanna know? My friend's father was the biggest client of the girl's father!
The girl was in the end expelled, my friend changed school and my friend's father end up his contract with the girl's father company...
Tbh when I heard it I thought it was a bad story about a drama but no
She just told us in the end "That was my story"
And we were like...."The heck?"
( ̄∇ ̄")
Well as for the manga well yeah all evil family and other worst evil one being...evil just to do evil is stupid.
Like "No the boy I love *choose* to be the desckmate of the girl so she is a bitch who stole him, it's all her fault" girl no? *He* choose it himself so why is *the girl* at fault?!
And the ML are generally stupid like "wow she is not like the others so I live her" and except the ML to live him like "the others" do??
And sometimes sorry but the ML are just rapping the FL (or the other way)
Like if the girl (or boy) is drunk or drugged or unconscious it's not ok to sleep with her?!
And the girl (or boy) end up falling is love??
Or when they think what other do but the leads don't like it is ok for them to do only because they are leads too??
Sorry?? Some people go to prison for less??
**inspires**
Sorry I went wild for a while oops
(=・ω・=)

So nepotism, favourtism and the feudal System is still well alive in modern Asian countries like Japan, China and Korea.
We also have corrupt rich elites in Europe.
But I get the impression that many Asians don't have the rage and courage to fight back.
Is it wrong to assume that Western individuals are far more capable/fierce when it comes to confronting bullies?
In Asian media the female Protagonist is always rescued by the toxic powerful inhumane patriarchale ML while in Western media the MC is able to take town the rich mean girl, not exactly on her own but still without a prince.
Examples: Heathers, Jawbreakers, Mean Girls.
Being rich in the West you get attacked by anyone but being rich in the East you are surround by subservient yes followers.

@Butterfly @MangaAnge9
I know right. I couldn't believe it at first. But I know she wasn't lying. Who could lie about something like that.
Tbh I can't understand too.
It's not only in Asia. But all around the world. People are cruel and judge everything who is different. Be it because of colour, clothing, religion, choices, appearance, past, present whitout even realizing how cruel they can be, how cruel they are. They don't and will not understand until it's happen to them or someone close to them. That's sadly how our world work. Well sometimes stronger one let them understand too. But it's never enough.
In Asia, well I don't know everything but the problem is more the standardization of society...Everyone in the country should act, look and think the same. People who are different would be judged and some other will take the opportunity.
They let young people learn that's only hard working people (A.k.a people who will obey whitout much questions) can have anything they want
They let young adults learn that's if they want to try something new for the society then society will not accept them
You want to go to another country? Ok!
You return after years? Well...Not ok!
You're now to different from the rest, you're more a foreign than the same as us
(A Japanese returnee testimony after 3 years)
The problem is how they were educated
I'm not saying in Europe the education is perfect too (far from it)
Some prefer standardization, some ingenuity or originality and other just do as if there is no problem.
As for if, "Is it wrong to assume that Western individuals are far more capable/fierce when it comes to confronting bullies" then yes and no.
We have more prevention campaigns but it doesn't mean we're more capable or fierce, it's because we're learning since a young age that violence is not the right answer yet bullying still exist because we don't adapt the education.
Example where In Korea asking for help is more shameful, a loser way of thinking were in France it's ok. Korea will try to fit in the pot, France is going to leave the pot and accept itself...Like this maybe?
Bullying to relieve stress, to feel more "normal", to evade the same thing, just because they don't understand the difference...
Every builled person is different just like every bully is different.
That's why the sooner you explain it why bullying is bad, the sooner you explain why being different is normal, the sooner you explain it's ok to love yourself and be who you are, the less someone is going to do anything bad...
Well but it's in human nature to hate...We're still an immature race after all..
Well again I'm only generalizing and it's a bad idea...
It's ALWAYS depend of the situation, person, education or/and country.
And I don't know everything, we are all learning thing every moment.
Maybe I'm wrong about something in my words
And someone know the subject better than me
Then I will learn from my errors
Hmmm
I'm not making any sense I think
I went too far once again damn it

I really appreciate your opinion.
I am a Taiwanese who was born and grew up in Germany.
Even though the current German School is quite outdated and needs to be reformed, I am still glad that I didn't have to visit school in Taiwan or China.
The expectations and atmosphere there can be quite brutal/harsh.
The main reasons why I was easily bullied in school is because my family raised me and used fear to be a conformist.
Don't ask stupid questions, don't be ever rude, always put on a nice smile, don't do you dare cause any trouble for us and others, always show respect for others, always bring good grade to makes us proud... So I had to hold myself back and not to express myself. Problem is they never taught me to social competent. And because of that I couldn't fight back or florish like a human being. I was afraid of my whole family.
What's ironic is after years my parents complained that I don't show any emotions, any sign of happiness or that I am too quiet... I should have a happy face.... Do I have a reason to be sully?, they asked.
My thoughts were: Are you fucking kidding me?!
They were finally dead to me!
If I ever see them again face to face, I will take them down.

Ahah well you are a rare one cause many people think I'm naive or weird, showing how even in our time we're still not ready for saying our full opinions.
As for your testimony, thanks for sharing
Now I know I was not wrong about the education point...
And sorry you had to endure this :((
Some (if not many) Asia parents think their childs are retirement plan so they are "investing" in them and can "collect" the "profit" later because "Hey it's because of us you are here and who you are" when, no, it's thanks to your efforts and hard work! Parents who make child just to have children take care of them once they old are the worst (And no, it's not rare at all)
The more toxic is a family, the more sooner you end up realizing how fucked the world can be ahah
But well
Some will still continue the education of their parents cause they don't know any others way when some will totally change it cause they realised how bad it is.
And like I said we're all different, education can't be standardized because then all children in the world will be the "same" and they would only get "a complete self" once adult.
But if you adapt the education (at least one in school) then you can help get a "complete self" much sooner...
Yet we're really far from it hu...
Tbh debate is the most easily way to help people develop a complete self !
Nobody have the same opinions so they will exchange, explain, learn about the existence of difference
Maybe they will not accept all but I least they know difference exist and will try to understand it...
That's why I love exchanging about people around the world, cause I learn every day !
Even tho my English is far from perfect Haha (≧∀≦)

I'm Thai and my aunt says things like,
"oh you have a job now? You should give me the money so I could build a farm. You could make your college money later." She also tells me to work with her even though she knows I have a career I have in mind.
Since my siblings aren't as gullible as me I have to take care both my parents and my aunts, but since they have no one else I'm okay with it. I think it's pretty common for Asian parents to want to be taken care of by their children because they don't want to be sent away and feel neglected. At least that is what my parents told me.
Why are chinese stories this vengeful and petty? Is anyone one else suffocated by the villains and "clan genocide" that always comes up in these?? Even cartoon villains have more depth, something or someone they really care about. These villains exist only to get stepped on by the MC and somehow, their entire family and friends are just as evil as they are? The real world doesn't work like that. You can't just bankrupt an entire company because one, yes ONE person slighted you. Idk why I keep hoping the next story will be different...
