Yup, same with me with my allergies with egg yolks. I continue eating them when i was a kid to teenager years even though I get rashes on my arms and leg folds and around my mouth. I didn’t really care how I looked with the rashes back then. Then one day I became immune(?) to it or something. But it came back this year. After 10 years without an incident. But the reaction this time is a bloated lips, like I got lip fillers. Still better than rashes though, but now I am lazy to build my immunity back, Im probably just getting old. Lol.
My friend who has shellfish allergy actually built up an immunity by stupidly continuously eating it anyway---so it is possible to brute force your way out of allergies (it doesn't work for everyone ofc, but they say that your body cycle resets itself every 7 years or so).
Anyway I think I kind of see where the author is going with this. They really needed a naive and homely female lead in order to show the two male leads a sense of home and normalacy.
