I think it was explained at the beginning that he does sleep around that's why when Alicia slept with him she was super confused and was like oh I guess Lancelot has the same habits as Ares. In the original story his habits change when he meets the princess. The funny thing is I guess after sleeping with Alicia once he fell in love lol.

Ok y'all so went n re-read the beginning chapters n it doesn't say anything about him sleeping around........ Just that he is a beast in bed for the Heroine only..... Soooo.... On that note, one theory so cliche that fits is love at first sight. Ares is a serious man but trying to trap our Alicia here so he sleeps with her n hallelujah for him she's a virgin so he has more reasons to trap her. Using that fact against her when she was mentioning that it was a fling when in fact she isn't used to flings.
Or the other cliche is wine did the trick n the papapa was so amazing that he fell in love lol

Well the bragging rights from the emperor isn't great as he doesn't have that much power yet n if she still believes that she'll die in the future, then the arrangement kinda does work for her. Bragging rights because right after the emperor, the Duke has it best (well not if all the scumbag nobles band together). Also if she can kinda get the Duke indebted to her maybe she can avoid her future terrible death
