So, a virus wiped out nearly all the omegas (97%) and the remaining ones failed to reproduce a new generation. They are all gone except the lab-grown ones. And then the lab was destroyed after Rain/Grey's foster mom stole him away, including all the remaining test subjects - who were all girls, btw. An omega test-boy was seen as mostly useless because getting him pregnant is such a pain and probably, without omega men around, society isn't very welcoming of same-sex relationships anymore.
Lukas is being expected to reproduce just as inhumanely as for Grey/Rain - though of course, they aren't threatening to kill him afterward. We still don't know the reason for that. I wonder if it's so no other superior alphas can be produced as rivals?
