Is anyone else reminded of Issei Sagawa while reading the first chapter? 'Cause he also butchered his victim, made a book about his crime and was treated like a celebrity. He also took pictures of the body (like what Dan did to the criminal here). Sagawa also said in an interview that he still fantasizes about eating a woman's flesh when he meets one in a train (kinda like what happened here too). Lastly, i don't know if my memory serves me right, but the line in chapter 1 where the criminal goes "it was hard at first, but as I cut more, it gets easier" (non-verbatim) sounds like something Sagawa also said in a documentary.
