Based off the early chapters the kid is definitely Caidel. But it looks like he had a different name back then. Also maybe she set the town on fire because the people were all terrible. His dad beat him I wonder if he forgot about that. He remembers being treated by her so he probably does remember. Was he upset his dad died because he would have no one now. His dad clearly never loved him beat him and neglected him. There is also the possibility someone else set the fire and he thought it was her and blamed her and she was upset because she thought he was different from the people who called her a witch. Hopefully they will recognise each other soon.
