I also thought that, but when they say "stay together" is not in a romantic relationship but as a "one-mind and one-body" they were so afraid of trusting someone else that they decided to remain single for the rest of their lives.
When it first came out I wanted to read this series but I read somewhere they might end up together and that really struck me as weird. But honestly reading the first chapter of this series got me hooked, every chapter has me in tears and in a constant emotional rollercoaster. It's frustrating and heartbreaking because I just can't comprehend how you could ever scar a child to that extent for mere greediness, it upsets me to no end. These babies have suffered so much that they are confused by mere affection and that breaks my heart. My babies
