Okay let me start this off because I have a lot of opinions unpopular might I add I think that story could have used a lot of editing and when I mean a lot! I mean there was shit that should have not have been in there that took up way too much space like I didn't need to know everything about his job. I'm being very honest that was boring as fuck to read about all the set pieces and everything they could have cut at least about a good 30% of that out. ( ̄へ ̄)
Now they should have mentioned that there was no sex. I know everybody's interpretation of vampires is different all the way down to Sesame Street, but bitch this is not fucking Sesame Street. vampires hunt with sexuality, so this should have definitely had a lot more explicit material in there to cover the boring-ass content revolving around his work.(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
The brother should have gotten with the third friend I mean this is yaoi after all so we're expecting a majority of the characters to be gay. so it should have completed the Trinity so none of the friends would have been able to die, and they all would have been able to live forever and to depend on each other. (/TДT)/
And to be honest I felt very frustrated reading how helpless the son was throughout the whole thing. I know his purpose was not to kill but he doesn't have to be a bitch either like I would have straight up punch the shit out of my dad if he bit my lover like that and then took off with my friend. But the son he just literally just walked past them I couldn't deal with that I was seriously going to end reading it at that. (=・ω・=)
There are a lot of plot stuff and minor and major issues with fluidity in the storyline but let me move on to some of the things I did like. To the reason why I gave it three stars. The artwork was awesome being folklore was experimental this was something I haven't read about vampires of 4 also I liked that each character showed emotion very differently I also like how the MC the stood up for himself and adjusted until world that told him he shouldn't exist and I relate to that very much so I did like that aspect of it.
My conclusion to the story is I think that if you're going to write about vampires it needs to be done with no limits. if you're going to write about yaoi with vampires it needs a lot more character development when it comes to establishing power dynamics, establishing what the fuck is going on clearly so it doesn't confuse readers. Any Arthur who wants to take on projects like this that are based almost widley in horror and want to romanticize it like let's say Twilight or something like that. You need to understand what category you're writing for, yaoi is known for tackling very taboo subjects. So when you're combining something that's already taboo with something that's as ancient as vampires this just let me down quite a bit. I was expecting a lot more risque, and just something to keep me reading. But if I was somebody who wasn't a fanatic for the stuff I would have dropped this, comic a long time ago. So I just want to say I really do appreciate the effort of everybody involved in that comic, and I hope that this is seen as constructive for a lot of reasons. because I think that it had really good potential. I just think that maybe because of the the laws in their country about writing things explicit like this, probably kept them from really going there. but I think that it's best to wait if you're going to produce content that's already going to be taboo that you need to be able to fully ground yourself in it and be allowed to express it. if you're not somewhere where you can do that save your story and write it somewhere that allows you to fully benefit from writers freedom and expression.
