You can see his point of view. He ultimately wants to save his friends and people, and so he's literally left with no other option. It's a horrible fate, and he feels guilty about it, as he should, but it's understandable.

I support erens decision because just like he said its either all eldiands die or the rest of humanity he choose to be selfish to protect the ones he loves and took action himself so no one else but him would be guilty
