I think it was a plot hole that the poor author couldn't work around.
1. If the servant had been punished, the chapter would be too long.
2. If the servant had been punished, he would be too injured to carry out whatever other purposes he serves for the upcoming plot.
3. If the servant had been punished, he would have been too preoccupied with his punishment to make that rude Nakyum. (that comment was important to Nakyum's storyline)
4. If the servant had been punished, he would have been too preoccupied with his punishment to notice Nakyum's painting (this may be important later)
I think it was just a plot-hole that the author just couldn't fix!
