Would be cute! Christmas Eve in Japan is more like Valentine's day for couples, they use it to spend romantic time together at a fancy restaurant or hotel.
It's also about giving gifts and eating sponge cake (usually strawberry with cream), and isn't even a national day, they just adapted the western custom to their own liking. They also traditionally eat fried chicken aha. They still get to work and go to school. Well, there's Santa, trees and flowers for children parties. They play games and dance in those.
New Year's Eve and Day would be closer to our Christmas in that families get together, have a meal, pray and send greeting cards.
